This is the center of the city, with lots of restaurants, bars, and beautiful architecture. Centro is one of the largest historic districts in Latin America. It is about a 10 minute drive from the hotel.

On Sundays Mérida closes its main street, giving a chance for cyclists to enjoy downtown on two wheels without any cars or trucks. you can rent bikes along the street on Sunday, from 8am to noon.

One of Mérida’s Casas Gemelas, or Twin Mansions, is now a museum, with its first-floor open to the public. All the original furniture from the 1911 residential marvel is intact. Open 9 a.m.-5 p.m Thursday-Sunday.

About an hour and forty five minutes outside of Merida. Chichén Itzá is a complex of Mayan ruins on Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula. A massive step pyramid, known as El Castillo or Temple of Kukulcan, dominates the ancient city, which thrived from around 600 A.D. to the 1200s. Graphic stone carvings survive at structures like the ball court, Temple of the Warriors and the Wall of the Skulls.
