Our Story

Never thought I would meet the person I spend the rest of my life with on a dating app - but that is what happened here. We both swiped right. After exchanging information, Kiel was a gentlemen asking me out on a date to go fishing with him. But I kept making up excuses to not go, only because it was frightening to go out on a river in a boat with someone that I met online. Kiel stayed persistent with asking me on dates, thank gosh he did. Our first date was to Lolo Steakhouse, he won me over when he would constantly fill up my water glass for me - what a gentleman I thought. Our conversations were effortlessly, had so many things in common, shared goals and interests. The rest has been history after that first date. Kiel and I moved to Ogden, Utah for 3 months for him to go to ATP flight school. I moved to Boise, Idaho for 18 months for dental hygiene school. In between all of the moving and 18 months of being in different states; we have had been able to experience countless amazing memories together in the 4 years of dating- from hunting, fishing, camping, traveling, riding horses, being on the lake, etc. We spent the days around our 4th anniversary in Nashville, Tennessee where he (finally) got down on one knee and asked if I would marry him. Now, we are here. Tying the knot in spending forever together.

The Proposal

April 15th was the day we became engaged! April 15th was also our fourth anniversary together. A few days prior, we took a trip to Nashville, TN with one of Kiel's best friends Eric (a key person to make the proposal take place without me knowing). Eric picked up the ring, got the to airport 30 minutes before us to make sure nothing happened during security, and took it with him to Nashville. Thursday morning, the day before the 15th, while I was getting ready the boys exchanged the ring, which now made it to Kiel's suitcase. Minutes after the exchange, I went rummaging through Kiel's suitcase looking for my lost sunglasses - they were not in there. Friday morning, the 15th, Eric left Nashville to go to California for his son's hockey tournament. Since it was our anniversary, Kiel decided that we were going to change hotels and get closer downtown to Broadway for the last night - it is called the Holston House. This hotel had a rooftop pool and bar. After spending the day walking around Broadway, we went back to the hotel to go to dinner which Kiel made a reservation at our hotels restaurant. While waiting for our reservation we went to the rooftop bar to have a drink. I ended up spilling my drink down the front of my shirt; Kiel immediately was so frustrated that I just got ready, spilled on my shirt and that was the only nice dinner shirt I brought for our anniversary dinner. I had no care (kiel on the other hand did knowing he was an hour away from popping the question), I just went back down to our room and blow dried it and the shirt looked brand new. We then made our way down to dinner, at the end of dinner the waitress gave us a note and desert that said "heard it was our anniversary, we would love to treat you to champagne on us on the roof". I did not think anything of it at this point - after the fact I should of know something was up due to the waitress not asking why we were there for dinner, I did not tell her the special occasion but she knew because this was all part of Kiel's big scheme. She took us to the rooftop bar and pool because it was right at 8 o'clock and that is when it was closing - also planned. Kiel and I tossed our champagne and enjoying the view of the city and Broadway, chit chatting, which was Kiel stalling because there was still people straggling behind after the pool was supposed to be closed. Finally, everyone left and left us alone. During the trip I was thinking about getting a tattoo representing Nashville; Kiel said that he had a quote that I could get that reflects Nashville, our trip, and fits our lifestyle - would you ride to the end of the trail with me. Me still thinking nothing of a proposal, just said oh that's a good one. We always joke that I know him very well, because I know what is he thinking or what he is going to do or say. Both of these conversations lead Kiel to asking - Will you continue to get to know me and trail to the end of the trail with me - he then got down on his knee, took off his cowboy hat, pulled out the ring where he was hiding it, and finally asked if I would marry him. Of course saying yes we then celebrated the two of us for the last night in Nashville.

For all the days along the way
