At the start of 2018 neither Becca nor Zach knew that the year would change their lives forever. It was February when the two serendipitously swiped right on each other via Bumble. Becca asked Zach whether he preferred Margaritas or Sushi? Zach, being the suave and witty (smartass) gentleman he is, responded with, "why not both?" Their very first date was on a Thursday night, however, Mother Nature had bigger plans. She sent a Nor'easter up the coast and totally ruined Zach's plans because he had to head to Philly a day early resulting in a same day cancellation on Becca. Zach called Becca after work to postpone their first date, while asking her to a phone date that evening. To Zach's surprise Becca called him while he was on the Jersey Turnpike and they talked for 45 mins. Becca was kind enough to give Zach a second shot a week later and their first dates consisted of drinks, bowling, and live music. In April and May of 2018, Becca and Zach's adventures started to build without their even realizing. They would go hiking at Talcott Mountain and Night Kayak along the Farmington River. On Memorial Day weekend they attended a party at Becca's friend Katie's home where Zach was introduced as "Becca's Boyfriend", he did not correct anyone when this was said nor did he want to. When summer of 2018 hit, Becca and Zach had their first real test to their relationship. Becca helped Zach move into his house in West Hartford, which she would later help make a home, and Zach flew off to Europe for 3 weeks a day later. During that time Becca was also traveling the opposite direction back home to Oregon. Neither of them knew what to expect in terms of communication while being apart that long with such different time zones. In what was likely annoying to Wyman and Becca's Dad, they texted non-stop for the 4 hours of daylight they shared. Fast forward to 2021, during the height of Covid, Becca asked if Zach would want to do van-life. Without hesitation, his answer was yes. With a lot of planning, they broke it all down to three big steps. 1. Sell the house, 2. Buy a van, and 3. Build the van. Thus began the most adventurous year of their lives. With experiences like being the only human beings in all of Badlands under the starry sky, summiting Angel’s Landing while it was snowing with their bestie Ali, or sharing Wal-Mart parking lots with night owl patrons, they were brought closer with every experience. Now settled into Denver, Colorado, the adventure hasn’t stopped. Becca and Zach have spent the last year kicking a Master’s Program’s ass, finding new passions, and building amazing friendships. They’ve enjoyed thunderstorms in their tent at Twin Lakes and skied/snowboarded seven mountains with even more adventures that await. So get ready to witness the union of two adventurous souls, Becca and Zach, as they embark on their next journey of a lifetime - marriage.
