The restaurant where we had our first date. A South Jersey & Philadelphia area favorite, Fire offers a large selection of beloved Italian American fare, generously portioned & great for sharing, in a warm, comfortable atmosphere with friendly service, let’s eat!
Since Rocky’s first triumphant onscreen run up the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art in 1976, the 72 steps have become an international destination. Travelers from around the world embark on their own trek up the stairs, pumping their fists in the air as they cherish the spectacular view of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway and the city skyline. Cheesey? Definitely. Fun? Absolutely! To finish off the experience, head to the bottom of the stairs and snap a photo with the bronze statue of Rocky, originally created for Rocky III. (Then, venture inside one of the country’s most magnificent art museums. We promise it won’t disappoint.)
Rogelio Garcia and his family bring Puebla to Collingswood in this laid-back spot decorated with potted palms and cool white tile. The fact that he’s both local and self-taught makes even more lovable. Garcia’s enchiladas run the gamut, from his signature tres moles to rib-eye with spicy green sauce. Taco Tuesdays mean deals on barbacoa, chorizo, and the rest. Be sure to bring your own tequila (Collingswood is a dry town!) to pair with the house mix. Maybe plan on ordering out, the dining room is super intimate...like 3-4 tables intimate.
While historical attractions abound in Philly, Independence Hall is where the nation was founded. In 1776, the Founding Fathers signed the Declaration of Independence in the building’s Assembly Room. Just 11 years later, representatives from a dozen states met here to lay the framework for the U.S. Constitution. Today, the goose bumps-inducing UNESCO World Heritage Site is the centerpiece of Independence National Historical Park, and guided tours of this bucket-list gem are available year-round. As of January 2022, free tours of the Hall are available via timed tickets.
This place will be a must for a hangover cure the day after the wedding, just make sure you have a reservation cause this place gets packed!! The Collingswood outpost of Philly-born bruncherie Sabrina’s is as popular as its city sisters, with a brunch-centric menu for mimosa-sipping patrons. Stuffed challah French toast is a go-to if you can take it slow afterward, or there are plenty of veggie choices if you want to keep things light and bright. Open for indoor and outdoor seating.
The 346-acre Cooper River Park, which runs through Pennsauken, Cherry Hill, Collingswood and Haddon Township, features two bike paths, the 3.8-mile loop (Cuthbert to Rt. 130) and the 1.35-mile (Cuthbert to Grove Street) courses. The park also features a children's playground with pavilions, two softball fields, one cross country course, a restaurant - 'the lobster trap,' driving range, the Cooper River Yacht Club, pooch park, four volleyball courts, miniature golf course, boat launch for trailer and car-top boats. No gas motors are allowed. There's also fishing, a 1.25-mile cinder track, four picnic areas, indoor rest rooms at the stadium that's open year round 10 am to 10 pm, memorial grove, biofilter wetland and a sculpture garden. Ideal rowing conditions exist on the river, which boasts a world-class, Olympic-distance, 2,000-meter narrow and sheltered straightaway. Go at night time to see the amazing Philly skyline across the water!
Set below a former railroad terminal, Center City’s 127-year-old Reading Terminal Market serves as both a dazzling tourist destination and a trusted source for fresh produce, seafood, meats and cheese for locals. The public space also provides open seating where customers can enjoy a world of cuisines from dozens of restaurants, including Pennsylvania Dutch vendors and sandwich slingers like the acclaimed DiNic’s, serving up hot roast pork sandwiches that rival the city’s much-lauded cheesesteaks. Retail merchants sell housewares, jewelry, linens and more. As of January 2022, the market is open for indoor dining (with proof of vaccination) and shopping.
