“We’re getting married”

Aaron and I have known each other since high-school but, it was 5 years after we both graduated, that our paths aligned on Febuary 24, 2019. Our first date was in New Orlean’s French Quarter, where we walked the cobble stone steets, talking and listening to the music of the city. That night under the light of the moon I took one look into Aaron’s eyes and I knew that he was going to be the man I married. It was if it was written in the stars.

Just hours before Aaron’s deployment we decied to go out for one last date, that was to hold us over for the next couple of months. Through out dinner I could sense that Aaron was acting a little different but, I just chalked it up to him being anxious about leaving. I had no idea what was to come. After dinner the night was still young and the air was freezing cold but, we didn’t let that stop us from grabbing a couple of sodas and taking the sweetest walk finding oursleves yet again under the blanket of the night sky, standing by a lake surrounded by trees on one side, with the reflextion of the moon dancing across it. As I gaze apon the starlit sky, Aaron turned to me and said “Asia Briggs, you know that I love you very much”, getting down on one knee the words, “ Will you marry me”, came out of his mouth and off went my squeeling of a “YES!!”, Aaron then placed the most meaningful ring I could dream of onto my finger, a ring his mother once wore before me, a ring that embodies every letter of the word love and the meaning of in sickness and in health, a ring that came from a marriage that is still standing strong till this day, in that moment I realized not only did Aaron ask me to become a part of his family but so did his mother. Every time I look down and see this ring on my finger I can’t help but smile and think of how lucky I am to be the one he loves.

Asia and I often find ourselves star gazing and talking about our future together more times than we can count, so the way we spent our first date to the way we got enaged will always be in our hearts. We often tell each other “You are my Sun, my Moon, and all of my Stars”.
