Ryan and I attended high school together, where he was one grade below me. We shared a class during my senior year and sat next to each other; I always remembered him for his kindness. As it turns out, he had a crush on me the entire time, though he jokingly reminds me now that I always seemed to have a boyfriend back then. After graduation, we went our separate ways and didn't speak for over ten years. We eventually reconnected in September 2023. Our first date was at Ferus on a Saturday during the first Alabama football game of the season. Although Ryan is a huge fan, we were so caught up in conversation that we didn't pay any attention to the game. We talked for eight hours straight about our pasts, our futures, and our goals. We haven't gone a day without speaking since. Ryan proposed this past New Year’s Eve at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens. It was a complete surprise, and having both of our families there to celebrate with us made it a dream come true. We are so grateful and cannot wait for this next chapter together.
