Ashton and Michelle met in August 2016 at a small group through their church. Ashton had moved to Colorado in February 2016 and had been a part of the small group for awhile. Michelle moved to Colorado in late July 2016 and joined the small group shortly after. Both of them had longed for a community to be a part of and both found that within the small group. Ashton was in a time of his life where he was not ready to date anyone-but knew he was in trouble when Michelle walked in to her first small group gathering! There was an instant attraction between both. Ashton and Michelle continued to get to know one another and grew to really like one another. Both Ashton and Michelle had been praying to God for guidance and through those prayers God led both of them into a time of creating a beautiful friendship. Ashton knew God was working in his heart and needed more time to grow and change in the way God wanted him to before being ready to date Michelle. Michelle was ready to date, but had always prayed for her future husband that his heart was being shaped by God to be ready to date in God's timing. So even though it was difficult that they were in different seasons in their lives, Michelle completely respected Ashton and the way he was following God's path, not his own, as that is something Michelle had always prayed for. So Michelle waited for Ashton and they continued to get to know each other as friends. Fast forward 3 months later and God worked in amazing ways in both of their hearts. Ashton and Michelle went on their first date on November 25th, 2016 and have loved doing life with one another ever since. They were excited to see all that God was going to do within their relationship.

On February 3rd, 2018 Ashton asked Michelle to marry him at Sloan Lake. Here's the story...Ashton and Michelle started the day by going to take a walk around beautiful Sloan Lake. Not long after they started walking, a lady approached them about wanting them to help her with her "research" for her behavioral psychology degree. She was interviewing couples to see what it takes to have a long-lasting relationship. So Ashton and Michelle agreed to help her out. They answered questions about their relationship and what they love about each other. At the end of the interview, Ashton turned to Michelle, got down on one knee, and proposed (it was all a set up and Michelle fell for it all)! The beautiful proposal was followed by brunch with a surprise visit from all of their parents. The day ended with a surprise engagement party at Ashton's house with all of their friends and family that were in town. Ashton put so much work in to making it the perfect day and that's exactly what it was! They are so excited to keep doing life with one another and growing as God continues to be at the center of their relationship. They feel incredibly thankful for the friends and family God has placed in their lives to be by their side as they continue their god-written love story.
