Heath and Ashton's story

They met in Spanish class at Colony High School; Heath was a freshman and Ashton was a sophomore. At the time they were just acquaintances, however their story doesn't begin there. Their story begins when they saw each other at a football game a year later and hung out the entire time. That night they made plans to have a dog playdate, because their dogs were just two months apart. After having a dog playdate, the two of them ended up seeing each other almost every day after that. November 14th, 2019, Heath asked Ashton out. Ashton and Heath have different versions to tell that story but... she rejected him that night. That same day her parents signed papers selling their piece of property which would allow them to move out of Alaska. Ashton said that she wanted to say yes but didn't know if they were going to move out of the state or not. She wanted to wait until she knew if she was moving to tell him yes because she did not think he would want to do long distance. After she found out that she was, in fact, going to move out of Alaska she went to go tell Heath she was ready to give him his answer. The two were dating for a month and then she moved with her family to Alabama. Ashton and Heath were in a long-distance relationship for over 3 years. During that time the two of them traveled back and forth to see each other in Alaska or Alabama. They also met in different states like Nebraska, Nevada, New York throughout their distance. They have been so blessed to be part of the big moments like weddings, family reunions, and each other's high school graduations. Along with that they have gone on a big road trip in the states where they saw national parks like Mt. Rushmore, Yellowstone, and Devils Tower. In total Ashton and Heath have been to 20 states together! After going through long distance for 3 and a half years, Heath ended their long distance by moving to Alabama in February 2023. He proposed there at the Nashville Airport where they were celebrated with both their mothers and Ashton's siblings. They just recently were able to spend their first anniversary together, their 4 years, in person! They will get married in May of 2024, just two weeks after Ashton's college graduation. We are so thankful for all of our family members who have supported us through our journey this far. Without the support of them, we would not have been able to make it through the long distance like we did. We are so thankful for God who has given us the gifts of having each other in our lives. Our story is like no other and we know it was all God behind the scenes when we look back on our moments. We cannot wait for many more years and what more God has in store for us.
