We went to high school together and always knew of each other during those years yet we never spoke. In 2015 he graduated high school and in July of 2015 I got the nerve to message him. The first time we hung out was at a high school football game. Then, soon after we spent our first date on Raven’s Roost overlooking the Blue Ridge Mountains. On that day, he carved our initials into a rock. Those initials on the rock will last forever just like my love for him will.
What I expected to be just a normal anniversary trip for us turned into one of the best days of our lives. We decided to go to Virginia Beach, just the two of us, for a little weekend getaway for our 4 year anniversary. Little did I know, Jacob had other plans. Jacob had been planning this all by himself for awhile. He told both of our families about it and asked my dad for my hand in marriage before we left. That Saturday afternoon we walked down to the beach to take a few pictures before dinner. If you know me, you know pictures mean a lot to me. We took what felt like 1000 photos and I was over it but Jacob insisted that we take just a couple more. He had me stand facing the ocean and as he was taking a photo of me, I turn around and his family is walking toward us. As soon as I saw them I knew what was going on. I turned back around to Jacob on one knee, asking me to spend the rest of my life with him. I was so shocked, I immediately said YES! It was everything and more than I could have ever dreamt of.
