Tyler and Ashlyn met during the summer of 2024 in BYU’s LSAT prep class. It all began when Ashlyn asked Tyler if she could borrow a piece of paper—and from that moment on, Tyler was smitten. On the last day of class, he built up the courage to say, “I think you’re super cute... can I get your phone number?” Ashlyn smiled and replied, “I think you’re cute too! Yes!” Their first date was on June 4th, 2024, where they enjoyed breakfast together and got to know each other better. Just two days later, Tyler took Ashlyn on a motorcycle ride for their second date—an experience that made Ashlyn feel like she was living in a movie. Despite typically being calm and confident, Ashlyn found herself feeling incredibly nervous around Tyler because she liked him so much. Tyler, on the other hand, thought Ashlyn might not be interested—until she bravely told him that night, as he dropped her off, that she really liked him and wanted to stay in touch all summer long, even though he’d be away working as a river guide in Idaho. On June 8th, their third date took them to Tyler’s best friend’s wedding (yes, really!). After that, Tyler left on a family vacation while Ashlyn did her best to keep busy, anxiously waiting for the days to pass. On June 15th, they went on their fourth date—dinner, a walk by the Provo River, and a movie. The next day, Tyler left for the summer. Ashlyn drove home to Idaho for Father’s Day and ended up in tears over Tyler being gone. Her mom, Christi, said, “You’re either going to marry this boy, or he’s going to break your heart.” Ashlyn tearfully replied, “I don’t want him to break my heart!” Despite the distance, Ashlyn and Tyler FaceTimed every 6–7 days while he guided trips on the Salmon River. In July, Ashlyn visited Tyler for a whirlwind 24 hours, and during that visit, they decided to make it official. When Tyler returned to Provo at the end of August, he went straight to Ashlyn’s apartment—with flowers in hand. In September, they said “I love you” for the first time. Since then, they’ve spent nearly every day together. With Tyler’s adventurous spirit and Ashlyn’s love for trying new things, their weekends have been full of unforgettable memories. They’re so excited to continue building their life together—filled with even more adventures, laughter, and love. After their wedding on July 29, 2025, Ashlyn and Tyler will continue living in Utah County while Tyler attends BYU Law. After law school, they can’t wait to see where life takes them!
