We were both in Deadwood for a charity event. Ashlyn spotted a guy in a full body green suit and decided to ask him for a picture. They became friends on Facebook and bumped into each other at other events. A year later they reunited at the Saloon 10 in Deadwood for another charity event. With a little liquid courage Ashlyn confessed to Joaquin that she thought he was the coolest thing since sliced bread. Their friendship and mutual love for charity quickly became romantic. Now, 6 year (and 2 kids!) later they've decided to finally make it "official"!
We were out celebrating our Anniversary. After a delicious steak dinner, some fun at the arcade and a few drinks at Lucky's we were heading home for the night. As we were walking through Downtown Sioux Falls back to our car Joaquin mentions how we don't have a "spot" in Sioux Falls that is special to us. Ashlyn responded "as long as I am with you it's always our spot". So there on the corner of Philips Avenue and 10th Street Joaquin got down on one knee and asked Ashlyn to be his wife.
