Ashlyn and Ian met in 2022 through a group of friends, despite growing up just miles apart. Ashlyn attended Mount Vernon High School, while Ian went to the Knox County Career Center, yet their paths never crossed until the timing was finally right. Their first date was glow-in-the-dark putt-putt followed by Raising Cane’s , filled with laughter, playful competition, and an instant connection. On June 12, 2022, Ian asked Ashlyn to be his girlfriend—marking the beginning of a journey neither of them could have imagined. Over the years, Ashlyn and Ian grew both individually and as a couple. They supported one another through high school, college, and fire and EMT training, celebrating accomplishments and standing side by side through challenges while learning what true partnership means. On June 12, 2025, after Ashlyn had worked that day and spent time dog-sitting Miss Lily, Ian surprised her with a trip to a cozy Airbnb in Walhonding, surrounded by cattle, hay fields, and a breathtaking valley view. A blanket was set overlooking the scenery, complete with her favorite wine—Blueberry from Killing Tree Winery—along with cheese, crackers, and fruit. In that peaceful and thoughtful setting, Ian asked Ashlyn to marry him—and she said yes. After the proposal, they went inside and enjoyed his mom’s homemade chicken alfredo with bread, followed by cheesecake, soaking in the joy of the moment and the start of their next chapter together. Now, they look forward to saying “I do” on June 12, 2027, surrounded by the people they love most. What began as a chance meeting turned into a love they are incredibly grateful for, and they can’t wait to celebrate the start of their forever.
