We met at a pool hall, Santa Clara Billiards. I was working there part time and Minh was a frequent player. He knew I was the one when I concocted an off-menu salad for diet-conscious Minh. Now, we're not talking about your average salad – I chopped, diced, and vinaigrette-d my way into his heart. But here's the twist – this isn't your typical love story where sparks fly at first bite. Nope, we hung out, swapped stories, and found ourselves stuck in the infamous friend zone for about 8 years. Now, fast forward to the part where things get intriguing. In the midst of pool games and salad surprises, our time together deepened our connection. Our history suddenly transformed into the backdrop of a love story that no one saw coming.
Minh Proposed in Austin, Texas. We had already talked about marriage and looked at rings together, but I had no clue when he was going to pop the question. Minh took me to this awesome spot called Mt. Bonnell. We snapped tons of pics, channeling our inner models, and having a blast. Then he led me to a more "exclusive" area (by exclusive, I mean a quieter spot with fewer people around). We're taking in this amazing view, and Minh gets all deep and sentimental. He's talking about our journey together, how we've grown, yada yada – you know the drill. At this point, I'm nodding along, thinking, "Aw, that's sweet, Minh." Then I spot it--a ring box. And guess what? Minh decides this is the perfect time to show off his flexibility with an "Asian squat" (on a rocky surface, mind you). It finally clicks – the view, the speech, the Asian squat – this is it! Minh pops the question. And because I'm not one to keep people in suspense, I blurt out a big "YES!"
