We can't wait to celebrate with you!

On our second anniversary I made us a date idea board since the two of us are bad at coming up with them. Then one day in July I take one out for us to do and it was a Nerf War! So Ash gets us tons of stuff for the war then we went to a beautiful park in Des Moines. To make it more fun, we decided to say that whoever lost had to buy dinner. He ended up buying dinner. But not before we played some other fun games that he also lost at. We got cleaned up before we went for a nice dinner. Normally at this point we would go back, but he pulled over near a really pretty bridge and said, “Let’s go take a walk.” We don’t take walks so I was suspicious, since we have been together awhile and we’ve talked about getting engaged. So when we get to this bridge and we are both dressed up I knew it was happening but in the back of my mind I thought, nah it’s too perfect. So as my 6’1” boyfriend is almost fast walking 5’1” me to this bride, the Iowa Women of Achievement Bridge, he says that he wanted to bring me there “because I am the most important woman in his life.” He then proceeds to read me a poem that he has written in calligraphy and taped to the bridge, “More supportive than any arch. Stronger than steel and concrete. Sturdier than any foundation. Even when distance separates us we will always stay connected. The world may rush past us but we will stay strong and rise above it. People may come and go in our lives but we will be linked together. Our love is better and more beautiful than anything else.” When we get to the center of the bridge I see that he has set up an arch and hung lights on it, he has set up candles leading to the arch, and he had light up letters that spelled the words, “Marry me”. He also had his grandfather there to take pictures of me saying yes!
