Ashlie was with her family when Russell sent her a text. After much persuasion, she admitted that the text was from the brother of her charge nurse but she wasn’t going to text him back! The group decided that ignoring her boss’ brother was a poor career move and she responded with brilliance saying, “Hi Russell, I’m Ashlie” and aren’t we all so glad that Ashlie loves her job! As it turns out, sisters are an important part of Ashlie & Russell’s story because, on the other side of that first text, was Russell’s sister saying he needed to text her friend! All of the sisters would like to say to The Happy Couple, “you are welcome!” After talking, Russell quickly asked Ashlie to dinner. You would think the sibling involvement would have ended but you would be wrong! Ashlie was absolutely not going to meet an unknown man alone! So she invited, you guessed it, sisters! Of course she wouldn’t let them enter the restaurant. I think she knew how well the date would go because she said that the risk of Russell recognizing the family from the restaurant in the future was too great. After a grueling THREE HOUR parking lot wait, Ashlie emerged smiling and laughing with Russell. He found out Ashlie had spies at their first date around a year later. Russell was equally eager to introduce Ashlie to his family as she already loved Melissa from work. Russell made it official not long after saying, “Well I'd just be really sad if you were dating other people...” Or something else equally romantic.
As I’m sure you can tell, family is very important to both Russell and Ashlie. Their relationship started with family but has blossomed into so much more. Russell was very thoughtful and intentional with his relationship with Ashlie. As soon as he knew he was serious about Ashlie, he started planning his future with hers. Ashlie, however, was unaware of Russells’ plans. When asked about their impending engagement she said, “Not any time soon - it takes Russell 3 to 5 business years to make a big decision” Little did she know, they’d be planning a wedding for their third anniversary of their first date. That is 1095 days later - which is roughly 4 business years! Ashlie and Russell are a perfect pair - made for each other. We are so excited to watch them celebrate the start of their marriage. Please join us for a reception celebrating their marriage on September 28, 2024 at the Oak Meadow Event Center. Also, join us in prayer for the newly weds as they begin their lives as husband and wife. It is our hope that their marriage reflects the love of Christ for His church and that their lives are used to further His kingdom.
