I proposed on November 29th, 2024, at the Walls Family Tree Farm—one of Ashley’s favorite places. I knew how much it meant to her: the memories with her dad, the family traditions. Her family was going to be in town, and I couldn’t think of a better place to create another memory together. Of course, the whole drive there, I was nervous. Trying to figure out the perfect thing to say and how not to pass out while saying it. Thankfully, her family helped me out by going around the circle sharing what they were thankful for. When it got to me, I took a deep breath, thanked them all for accepting me even though I don’t talk a lot and told them how much Ashley means to me. Then I dropped to one knee and Ashley asks me what am I doing? 😂 But in that moment, it all came full circle. I fell for her when we were just 15. Life happened, we went our separate ways, but when I got a second chance, I knew I couldn’t let her go again. I wasn’t going to miss out twice. So, I planned to make her my wife. And I did it in a place that already held so many memories, hoping this would be one she’d never forget.
Ty and I met in Sunday school at church. We’d seen each other around but were both too shy to say anything. Then one day, he finally said hi and mentioned that his birthday had just passed. I reached in my pocket, found a five dollar bill and handed it to him because honestly, that’s all I had. We exchanged numbers shortly after and the rest is history! Who knew that five dollars and an awkward and shy interaction would lead to me marrying him 15 years later! Since then, we’ve grown up together, supported each other through every season, and built a love rooted in faith and friendship. That small moment turned into cherished memories, laughter, and unwavering love. Looking back, I wouldn’t change a thing — even that nervous first hello.
