In September 2009, Ashley was a freshman in high school and Tyler was a sophmore. She was walking through the gym to see the athletic trainer when she almost got hit in the head by a volleyball. She turned to see who almost hit her when Tyler was running over to apologize. She went home that day and told her mom and sister that she found the person that she wanted to be with. After going on dates throughout high school, Tyler asked Ashley to be "official" in September of 2014 (FINALLY). From that point on, the rest was history

On February 14th, 2021, Tyler told Ashley that he made reservations for Valentines Day at 3 pm for a late lunch at Stella Marina. He picked her up a little early to go on a walk on the boardwalk beforehand. As they were walking, he asked her if she wanted to go down to the beach. Ashley, despite being exhausted from getting home from work at 8 am after working a 12 hour night shift the night before, went with it. Suddenly, she noticed a lady taking pictures of them! Little did Ashley know that both their families had been planning this for weeks and had gotten to the beach an hour earlier to help Tyler set up a beautiful display with a “marry me” sign, flowers, rose petals, and candles. Ashley looked at the sign and then at Tyler and immediately starts crying. He got down on one knee and asks her to marry him. Then, both there families were running down the beach, which made her cry even more (which the photographer captured). After, they went down to Atlantic City to celebrate with the rest of Ashley's family.
