We met one late August day when Ashley arrived back in Los Angeles, fresh from a summer break at home in Portland. Excited for the academic prospects of a new semester, she was not prepared for what awaited her as she started settling in. Fatefully introduced by a trusted friend, Tobin was immediately smitten, and found every excuse to spend those last days of August together. On the first Friday of September, Tobin invited their little group for a trip to Venice Beach’s monthly food truck gathering. Ashley jumped at the opportunity, but when no one else could join, Tobin assured her he would ask around and find some other companions to fill out the group... but that isn't what happened! Tobin was secretly planning what would be an amazing first date for the two of them. Complete with a stumble into a live performance at a neighborhood record store, a veritable feast from their favorite food trucks, and finally a spin on the wheel of fortune. They landed on the one word Ashley had dedicated all her birthday wishes on for years: happiness. Very cheesy, yes, but it’s all true. We have had a special place in our hearts for the first weekend in September ever since. Now, seven years later, we’re continuing the tradition a little further North. We cannot wait to have you with us to celebrate our marriage on the anniversary of that beautiful night!
