Although we went to the same high school, Main Event is where our friendship grew closer. Ashley started at Main Event in 2010, where small interactions slowly transformed into deep conversations and built layers into their relationship as friends. At the end of 2019, Ashley made the first move and finally asked Sergio out.

Sergio had made several plans to propose, but nothing seemed to work out. He called in help from our six-year-old, Jakely. While Elaine and I were waiting in his room to go ice skating, Jakely and Sergio walk in and Jakely is wide-eyed and giggling beyond control. The more I ask why she's being weird, the weirder she got. (This was quite hilarious, especially to Elaine.) Jakely told me she hurt her foot and wanted me to look at it. I looked at it, still unsure of what was going on. After seeing nothing was wrong, I went to sit back down. Jakely began yelling/giggling "DON'T LOOK!" repeatedly. I looked anyway super confused. I asked Sergio what is going on. Sergio, looking at the 'Tickle me Elmo' of Jakely that he created said "nevermind" and proceeded to get on his knee and say "Will you marry me?" After saying YES, he told me about all the attempts he had and how he told Jakely to help him, but she couldn't control her excitement. He was so worried about getting it "perfect" that after a few failed attempts, it didn't matter how he did it, just that he did it.
