Nicholas and I met each other back in high school. We ran with the same group of friends and saw each other a lot. Especially in the morning before the first bell. Our friends would hang out in a group and shoot the breeze. Talking about whatever big thing was hot at the time. Manly music, movies, and TV shows. You know teenage things. Nick and I never shared a class together but we did see each other in the halls on the way to class, or at lunch. I’ve always had this secret little crush on him. Like I said, I had a secret crush on him, not knowing that until our senior year of high school he felt the same way about me. We graduated in the year 2006, both of us along with our group of friends excited to see what's beyond the school walls. It wasn't until that summer when Nick and I would text and call each other all the time, that we finally opened up about our feelings. And so our journey began. Our first date was at Ruby Tuesdays at the Deptford Mall, Afterwords, we walked around the mall going through the stores. Borders Book store was one of our favorite places to go. He would get comic books and manga's , which I would later on read. And I would get the latest YA novel. But what really connected us then and still to this day was a band by the name of HIM. Or if you wanted to be proper His Infernal Majesty. But to us they were HIM. We love their music, so much we went to most of their concerts in Philly and here around Jersey. Even got to meet the band. But as we grew up we grew apart and our lives changed. We unfortunately called the relationship off. Little did we know that in the summer of 2016 that we would give it another go. We got connected again through Facebook and began talking. Both wanting to take it slow and build our friendship back up. And I'm so happy we did, cause now we are more in love with each other then we were back then.
All of last year I was excited about this play called Betrayal. Because of of my favorite actors would be starring in it. The play took place in New York. I tried to save up for the tickets but one thing after the other would pop up and my money would have to go elsewhere. Nick was also trying to get them as well. But my half brother Gavin surprised me by offering to buy the tickets for us. As our Christmas gift since the play ran from September to December 8th. So he checked with us and got the tickets for the date November 23, 2019. And that's when the idea got into Nick's head to pop the question. We have been talking about taking the next step since we have been living with each other for 2 years. So the night of the play we walked around and enjoyed the sights of Christmas in New York. We made our way to Jacobs Theater where the play was and waited in line. All the while Nick was teasing me about my “crush” on the main actor, Tom Hiddleston. Making our way into the venue we took our seats and were in awe of the performance. The story and actors were amazing. Once the play was done we followed everyone outside to get pictures of the actors. On our way back to our hotel we made plans to go to a local restaurant called Juniors, amazing cheesecake by the way. As we walked into the room I left to go wash my face. We continued to talk about the play and the sights when i came out i stopped in my tracks. There he was. On one knee, bright red in the face, ring in hand. And I started to in Nicks words, “freak” out. I was not expecting it all. And I don't do surprises very well. As I calmed down, Nick said in true Nick fashion. “So, will you marry me?” Of course I said yes. And now here we are. Getting hitched.
