Our Story

From Ashley's Perspective

Nelson and I met on Bumble, a detail I never thought I’d share with the world. My sweet mother encouraged me to hit the online dating scene, and I was heavily convinced that I would not meet the man of my dreams on a superficial app. Lo and behold, I came across my fine, Puerto Rican sweet pea who now holds the key to my heart— I am officially a Bumble sponsor for life. Thank you, momma! What started as texting and late night FaceTimes evolved into a spontaneous, in-person date at Six Flags on June 12, 2021. Nelson will argue that he didn’t formally invite me, but hear me out ladies… he sent a text that read, “going to Six Flags with my family on Saturday…don’t know if that would be weird for you…” so of COURSE I’m gonna take it as an invite to meet my future hubs in person. If it wasn’t an invite, what else would it have been?! Two months later, following an unforgettable summer of road-tripping together (yes, my parents thought I was crazy for going on a road trip with a man I barely knew, but here I am alive to tell the tale!), Nelson, the romantic soul he is, officially asked me out in a Wawa parking lot. The rest is history! Jesus has been so incredibly good to us. For years, I have prayed for a man like Nelson, and the Lord, in His kindness, heard every word and cry from my heart. Nelson’s love is tender, healing, and genuine. I am so excited to be his wife and partner for life. Nelson, if you’re reading this, I LOVE YOU HONEY!

Our Story

From Nelson's Perspective

Ashley and I met through the most natural and traditional way possible: a dating app. Mindlessly swiping through Bumble, I bumped into a pretty freckled girl I swiped right on. Her energy and humor immediately drew me in. After a few weeks of texts and FaceTime calls, we finally met. In conversation, I told her I was visiting Six Flags with my family. I casually invited her to join us, expecting her to say no. To my surprise, she said yes. As the day approached, I struggled with how to tell my family I would have a complete stranger I met online with us and the kids. I opted to tell them she was a close friend from college. After awkwardly hanging out with 1/3 of my family, they eventually left, and we stayed behind to enjoy a true first date. As Ashley and I continued to know each other, I was convinced more each day that she was going to be my wife. After a wonderful summer of trips up and down the East Coast, I decided to make it official. While I’m unaware of the location... (Wawa gas station parking lot), I was happy to call her my girlfriend officially. Two weeks later, I decided to move 1,110 miles away. While we were apart for nearly a year, the Lord blessed us with the opportunity to see each other frequently. Despite the distance, the Lord has been faithful, growing us closer and stronger together.
