HOW WE MET

The right swipe...

The search for love in the modern society is constantly changing, advancing, making it hard to keep up with the times. Which, in turn, makes it rather hard to find that special someone. This struggle eventually led us both to venture into the world of online dating, a scary world full of superficial profiles, duck lips, and shirtless men flexing into a dirty bathroom mirror. We both chose to download the app known as Tinder. Hopes were not high... What caught Mike's eye about Ashley's profile was the absence of any duck lips or swimsuit pictures, and instead with a headshot of a girl with a coffee mug printed with a mustache hiding the lower half of her face. Without looking further, he "swiped right" which then allows you to message the other person only if they also "swipe right". Later that day, his heart skipped a beat when he got the notification that she, too, had "swiped right". Mike started off the conversation by complementing the nursing career, and Ashley liked him already. We met up for tacos in downtown phoenix. Ashley arrived (late), so Mike already had a table. Our eyes met, and Mike knew in that moment he had found that special someone and made it his mission to woo Ashley. (Spoiler alert - it worked). After dinner, we walked around downtown since neither one of us was ready for the date to be over. Mike stole a kiss from Ashley mid-sentence, Ashley giggled, and a year and a half later Mike proposed in that exact same spot. We couldn't be more excited to share a lifetime of adventures together, and we thank you for joining us on the beginning of our journey!

The proposal

In the beginning of December we decided to take an impromptu trip to Colorado Springs because we came across a great deal on tickets. The conversation about looking at engagements rings had come up before, and one of the days while we were in Colorado it was snowing and freezing outside, so we decided to go to the mall to look at rings. The trip was one of our favorites that we have taken together, and was filled with spending time laughing and exploring together with little plans. Two months later surprised Ashley with a fancy dinner downtown and sharing gin cocktails (another thing of which we share a love), and we walked around the same streets we visited on our first date. Just before midnight we came up to the spot where we shared our first kiss and mike got down on one knee. "Will you marry me?" was followed by "YES!" and then "Is this for real?!!" It was simple and so thoughtful and was a moment that was shared just between the two of us.

For all the days along the way
