Sandboarding at the Sand Dunes
The sand dunes of La Paz and Paoay, the natural coastal desert shaped by sea and wind, are located along the coast near Laoag City. Its rolling and sometimes steep slopes make it a perfect place for a heart-pumping 4x4 ride and sandboarding.
San Agustin Church of Paoay
The San Agustin Church, otherwise known as the Paoay Church, is famous for its distinct architecture highlighted by the enormous buttresses on the sides and back of the building. Dating its construction as early as 1593 and completed by 1710, the church has already witnessed and survived a lot of calamities owing to its preventive Baroque-influenced structure.
Malacañang of the North
The residence was built by the Philippine Tourism Authority in 1977 for Marcos's 60th birthday, and served as an official residence for the president's family when they were staying in Ilocos Norte. With its sprawling expanse, this imposing mansion is intricately designed and has a mix of Spanish and Ilocano architecture. The result is quite majestic, and one of its finest features is the magnificent view, with the house looking out over well tended gardens and the beautiful Paoay Lake.
Cape Bojeador Lighthouse
The lighthouse of Cape Bojeador, located in Burgos, Ilocos Norte, is the Philippines’ highest elevated lighthouse that is still active and kept in the original structure dating back to the Spanish-Colonial period. It is one of the most visited attractions in the area.
