What are the chances that a girl from Iowa and a guy from Tahiti would meet and fall in love in South Korea? We believe it wasn’t chance at all—it was God. From the very beginning, our story has been marked by His perfect timing and guidance. In a country far from both of our homes, we met through a small church community in the heart of Seoul. What began as a simple friendship grew into something neither of us expected. It was through our involvement at church and participation in our church’s run club that we really got to know each other. Over time, we ran together more and more and casual chats turned into deeper conversations, and friendship quietly blossomed into something more. Maru proposed while visiting Iowa, surrounded by Ashley’s family and the place where she grew up. Now both having left South Korea, we are eager to start our life together—first in Tahiti, and eventually in the U.S., or wherever God may lead. We are so excited for this next chapter and can’t wait to celebrate with you all soon!
