As many of you know, we are from the same hometown of Red Wing, MN, upon meeting through mutual friends, we realized how many coincidental experiences we have had prior to meeting! It didn't take long for us to be inseparable, our connection was undeniable. For months, Karsten had been telling my friends and family that he was going to marry me some day (who would've thought?). We spent most of our summer days boating on the river with friends, ending with Karsten drunkenly asking me on a date, my consistent response being "ask me when you're sober and then I'll give you an answer" ... after 6 months of working up the courage, he finally did! He picked me up at my parent's house for our first date, with intentions of taking me to a local restaurant, which, of course, was closed that day. We decided to pick up pizza and wine instead, and had a picnic at Baypoint Park, followed by watching the sunset on Memorial Bluff. "I love you" came shortly after and we knew this was our forever.
After getting Ash’s parent’s approval to marry their daughter, I started to do my research of what kind of ring Ash would like most. After picking out the ring, Deb (Ash’s mom) and I started thinking about how we could pull this proposal off. Deb suggested that we do family photos, and I loved the idea. Having someone already there capturing this moment would be perfect! Deb brought up the idea about family photos to Ash and she just ran with it. From picking out the photographer, to location, and all our outfits, she planned everything. Little did she know, she planned her whole engagement! November 20th, 2021 will be a day that we will never forget. After roaming around Minnehaha Falls taking pictures for about an hour, we found the perfect spot for couple photos. I knew the time was coming for me to finally drop to a knee, but I was getting nervous. I had this whole speech planned out in my head of what I wanted to say, but unfortunately when I dropped down, I froze. Nothing that I had planned on saying came out, but I was still able to ask, “Ashley Lynn, will you marry me?” Her response, “Are you serious?” had everyone laughing, but she eventually said YES! After telling our parents and friends that I would “marry this woman someday” for longer than I care to admit, I’m glad that it’s finally coming true and I cannot wait to say “I DO” in Jamaica!
