FAQ

We are so thankful to have an opportunity to celebrate our marriage with you all. While we are very excited to share this occasion with our guests, the health and safety of our family and friends is our top priority. ** All guests will be required to submit proof of vaccination AND a negative COVID test for the wedding. ** Thank you for all sending your vaccination cards to us. They will be shared with the venue. Please be prepared to show your results for a negative COVID test at check-in to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden: a PCR within 72 hours OR a rapid-antigen within 12 hours of the event is acceptable. We kindly ask that you have a photo of your results prepared on your phone to help facilitate an efficient check-in process. For rapid tests, please have the date/time in the photo to verify it was taken within the accepted time period. Please email us with any questions or concerns: justinandashley2021@gmail.com
Question

Will there be COVID precautions for guests?

Answer

Before attending any part of the wedding you will be asked to submit proof of vaccination AND a negative COVID test. A 72-hr PCR or 12-hr rapid antigen is acceptable. We kindly ask that you email your vaccine card as soon as possible. You will then be asked to only show your ID and COVID test at check-in. Children under 12 are exempt from vaccinations only, but are required to wear a mask while not actively eating/drinking. We understand this is an added step for you to attend our celebration, and we truly appreciate your cooperation in helping to make this a safe environment for everyone!

Question

Do I need to wear a mask?

Answer

Because all of our guests will be screened before entry, you will not be required to wear a mask during the ceremony or reception. However, the venue requires that guests wear a mask while entering through security at the entrance gate. You will then be allowed to remove it once you pass through the lobby. We encourage any guests that feel more comfortable wearing a mask to please do so at any part of our celebration.

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Our wedding is black tie preferred. For those wearing heels, please be aware that the ceremony will be in the gardens and may take place over grass.

Question

How do I get there?

Answer

The Brooklyn Botanic Garden is easily accessible by car or public transportation. If you choose to drive, there is often street parking on Washington Avenue, otherwise there is a third-party parking garage (GGMC) located at the main entrance of the Botanic Garden (900 Washington Avenue). Please be aware that from the parking lot there is a short walk along Washington Avenue to the private wedding entrance (1000 Washington Avenue). If you choose to take public transportation, there are subways, buses, yellow cabs and ride-shares. Cabs and ride-shares are readily accessible in both Manhattan and Brooklyn. The address for drop-off is 1000 Washington Avenue (a private gate entrance separate from the main entrance).

Question

What if it rains?

Answer

Good question! If it rains we will have the ceremony and cocktail hour indoors. The ceremony will be held in the Palm House (before the reception) and cocktail hour will follow in the indoor conservatories.
