Question

Where should I stay?

Answer

Our best answer is in or around the Terlingua Ghost Town. Everything out here is a "drive". For example the next closest towns are Lajitas (17 miles away) and Alpine (80 miles away) The issue with March is it's tourist high season and lodging will go fast. Lodging is abundant and I urge you to google "lodging Terlingua Ghost Town" Below I will list a few of the nicest places. I also recommend hopping on Airbnb and seeing what you can find - many people will list how far they are from the Ghost Town and Big Bend National Park in their listings. You can go as fancy or whacky as you want out here! So Explore! Swankiest Stays: https://laposadamilagro.com - La Posada Milagro - Vast Views https://basecampterlingua.com - Basecamp Terlingua - Rooms with Pools https://summitbigbend.com - Stay in a Cave! https://www.thelocalchapter.com - Luxury Yurts We encourage you to arrive at least one day before the ceremony and to stay a few days after to give yourself time in this beautiful area of the country.

Question

How do I get there?

Answer

Great Question! For most of you driving will be the answer to this question. If you are planning on flying in - El Paso and Midland/Odessa are the closest airports and both require an additional 3-4 hour drive from there. If you are driving please watch for animals and rocks! A flat tire in west Texas can easily become an all day event and the closest reliable tire shop is in Alpine (There is one in the ghost town but hard to know when they will be open) Also if driving be sure to have snacks, water and blankets in the car (good to always be prepared!) There is a gas station in the ghost town but when you stray from there can be some long stretches before you find the next gas station - so keep topped off. If driving from Central Texas be sure to gas up in Alpine before continuing south.

Question

What is the weather like?

Answer

March is a beautiful time of year in west Texas but can be unpredictable. My favorite thing to tell people is layers are key! Likely you will be chilly in the early morning and at night with a warm up mid-day. I never travel without my warm hat and puffer jacket.

Question

I have another question...who do I ask?

Answer

Text or Call us! We are happy to prepare you for this fun time!

Question

I can't travel that far...should I feel bad?

Answer

Absolutely not! You got an invite in the mail from us because we couldn't imagine sending out these invites and not including you. We plan on having a small celebration as well in south Texas in April for family who cannot travel. Those of you in other parts of the country we understand it's a big ask for the middle of a work week. We love each and every one of you and know life is wild. Take care of yourself first...and if you can join us...FANTASTIC!

For all the days along the way
