Our Wedding

It’s crazy to think we went to the same high school and never shared a single class. Sometimes we wonder if we would have ever crossed paths if it weren’t for a mutual friend bringing us together. Jose even tried to switch into the same curriculum Ashley was in, but our schedules just never lined up. But God (and some really good friends) had other plans. We met when we were just 14 years old. It was in the freshman hallway, right in front of Sra. Diers’ classroom, when our friend introduced us. Ashley needed an extra chambelán for her quinceañera, and Jose agreed to join the court. That same day, we had dance practice. Jose immediately thought Ashley was beautiful… but Ashley wasn’t interested at first. Slowly, we started getting to know each other. What began as simple conversations turned into a strong friendship. Before we knew it, we were best friends — sharing everything, trusting each other, and building something meaningful. After a year of friendship, Jose asked Ashley to be his girlfriend on November 3, 2018. What truly brought us closer wasn’t just kindness, but the way we cared for each other — with patience, respect, and without judgment. We learned how to truly listen, support one another, and grow together. That foundation became the heart of our relationship. Little did we know at 14 years old how far this would go. From high school sweethearts to getting engaged on December 31, 2022, our journey has been filled with growth, love, and so many unforgettable memories. Now, we’re just a few months away from saying “I do” on August 22, 2026 — and we can’t wait to begin this next chapter together.

Es increíble pensar que fuimos a la misma escuela secundaria y nunca compartimos ni una sola clase. A veces nos preguntamos si algún día nos habríamos cruzado si no hubiera sido por una amiga en común que nos presentó. Incluso José intentó cambiarse al mismo programa en el que estaba Ashley, pero nuestros horarios simplemente nunca coincidieron. Pero Dios (y muy buenos amigos) tenían otros planes. Nos conocimos cuando apenas teníamos 14 años. Fue en el pasillo de primer año, justo frente al salón de la Sra. Diers, cuando nuestra amiga nos presentó. Ashley necesitaba un chambelán extra para su quinceañera, y José aceptó formar parte de la corte. Ese mismo día tuvimos práctica de baile. José pensó de inmediato que Ashley era hermosa… pero al principio Ashley no estaba interesada. Poco a poco empezamos a conocernos mejor. Lo que comenzó como conversaciones sencillas se convirtió en una amistad muy fuerte. Sin darnos cuenta, nos hicimos mejores amigos — compartíamos todo, confiábamos el uno en el otro y estábamos construyendo algo muy especial. Después de un año de amistad, José le pidió a Ashley que fuera su novia el 3 de noviembre de 2018. Lo que realmente nos unió no fue solo la bondad, sino la manera en que empezamos a cuidarnos — con paciencia, respeto y sin juzgarnos. Aprendimos a escucharnos de verdad, apoyarnos y crecer juntos. Esa base se convirtió en el corazón de nuestra relación. Nunca imaginamos a los 14 años hasta dónde llegaríamos. De ser novios en la secundaria a comprometernos el 31 de diciembre de 2022, nuestro camino ha estado lleno de crecimiento, amor y recuerdos inolvidables. Ahora estamos a solo unos meses de decir “sí, acepto” el 22 de agosto de 2026 — y no podemos esperar para comenzar este nuevo capítulo juntos.
