I guess we represent the new age of dating, since the two of us met through the infamous bumble dating app. After almost scaring Jacob off, because I first asked him how tall he was, we set a time to meet for a first date after work. Both of us almost cancelled the date, due to running late and having a hectic day. But I quickly dressed into a cute top after work and headed to meet Jacob who showed up in his blue YGrene polo; no dressing to impress pm his end. Little did I know, Jacob had purposely picked a spot that his friend was a bartender at; he later told me he did this, so in case we didn’t hit it off, he could just stay and have a drink with his friend. But we did hit it off, and this handsome guy who asked me straight forward questions spiked my curiosity. We ended up both walking out of the restaurant together, saying that we would be in touch. I wasn’t sure if Jacob meant what he said, but the very next morning at 7:30 am while hooking my horse trailer up, I got a text from him asking to see me again. A couple dates later, a first kiss in Jacob’s famous Tron (electric car), we both knew we had found a special connection within each other.
On October 18, 2019 I quickly dropped the girls off at home after picking them up from school, and headed out the door. Our friends, and now neighbors, Monica and Aaron had asked us to come over for dinner that eve. Monica suggested we go for a walk before dinner, but that I had to hustle; so hustle I did, as I walked outside with my jeans, mid calf pink socks, running shoes and dog treat fanny pack on. I jokingly asked Monica if she liked my outfit, which she replied with a laugh; in my mind I thought, “well I didn’t think it was that funny.” We headed out for our walk, which turned into a leisurely stroll, confusing me because I thought we needed to hustle. But we set in stride and were happily chatting away when we came upon my favorite spot on the walk, the bridge which cuts through this beautiful meadow and is one of our favorite spots to stop and take in the surrounding beauty of Truckee. The dogs bolted across the bridge starting to bark at some people who were crouching down. I quickly yelled “don’t worry the dogs are friendly!” The sun was gleaming down on the bridge and into my eyes, but as we continued forward, I could see beautiful rose petals strewn across the bridge. “Oh my gosh how sweet! Someone’s doing a proposal” I thought to myself. And before I could turn to share my thought with Monica, I hear Bexley’s sweet voice saying “look ash, look at all the flowers just for you.” And then I see Jacob walking forward, getting down on one knee, asking me to marry him. I was completely surprised by my whole gang setting up the most beautiful and perfect proposal. I of course said yes to marrying my best friend and creating a forever family with my two beautiful bonus daughters. We are so excited to continue the celebrating at the wedding! We will see you in June!
