We went to the same middle school together, though we never really talked, we were both in orchestra. In high school we both existed in the same orbit— same school, same events, but never crossing paths. Then same college... It's funny how life works. We reconnected by chance— of all places, on social media. It wasn't a message or an intentional "Hey!"— it was just a casual comment about a show we were both watching. From that small interaction was a snowball effect. A year or two went by before we started talking again. It felt so natural, like we had been friends for years. The more we talked the more we realized how much we had in common— how we had been quietly observing each other all those years, without ever really seeing each other. Eventually we agreed to meet up, and we spent the whole evening talking. Our first date, we sat in the chic fit a parking lot and talked for hours. Looking back, it's hard to believe we had been in the same school, same place for all those years and never talked. Almost like it was meant to happen this way-- at the right time.
