It all started August 27th, 2016 - Westmont's freshman year orientation. Two unassuming freshmen walked into a study abroad info session with all their hopes, dreams, and aspirations in tow. Hendrik, one of those freshmen, looked across the room and saw Ashley Masso out of San Antonio, TX. She was gorgeous, beautiful, smart, and thoughtful. He on the other hand possessed no more than half of such qualities, and each in a more diminished way. But what he did have at the time was stubbornness and childlike flirtation. For the next three weeks he came up with different ways to approach her, many of which she ignored. And by the end of it the best he could do with was throw sand in her face during a volleyball game at East Beach, just to get her attention at all! Well, in the end, it somehow worked. Six years later and now we're getting married. Turns out that chance encounters and sand throwing can go on to change your life. To be quite serious though, that first unassuming meeting at orientation really did go on to change our life. Through our time at Westmont and now living as working adults in Santa Barbara, Ashley and I have been on an amazing adventure surrounded by family, friends, and God's provision in it all. We've been through some incredible highs and have tasted some of life's lows. But along the way we've grown in love for one another and have an immense gratitude for everyone who has lived this adventure with us. We, along with our parents, are incredibly excited to celebrate these amazing things with you: family, friendship, love, and God's incredible goodness. We can't wait to see you on September 24th as we open this next chapter of our story.
