Things To Do and Places To Eat

There are so many things to do and places to eat in and around Houston. Here is a list of places we have gone and think you will enjoy. First are things to do, and then a list of restaurants in order of pricing from least expensive to most expensive. Let us know if you have any recommendations as well!

Space Center Houston

1601 East Nasa Parkway, Houston, TX 77058

This place is fun for all ages! Kids 3 & younger get free admission. You get a discount if you purchase tickets online. Parking is $10. The space center is in Webster so plan to be gone most of the day. It's a bit of a trek but we think it's worth it.

Color Factory Houston

3303 Kirby Drive, Houston, TX 77098

Super fun with or without kids! Multiple rooms with different activities and installments.

Puttshack - Houston

1200 McKinney Street, Houston, TX 77010

So much fun! There's a full bar and restaurant as well. We did a day date here and had a blast.

Houston Zoo

6200 Hermann Park Drive, Houston, TX 77030

We have been to the zoo once during Christmas for the lights and it was great! The weather should be nice for a stroll.

Drunk Shakespeare Houston

412 Travis Street, Houston, TX 77002

We had a blast at this interactive play. The actors have to pull straws to see how has to drink and they get smashed! It makes for a very interesting display of a Shakespeare play. Adults 21 and older only. We recommend taking an Uber.

Cidercade Houston

2320 Canal Street, Houston, TX 77003

They have so many games! We recommend getting there earlier in the day because it can get very busy mid-afternoon. After 9pm it's 18+ only.

Houston Improv

7620 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77024

Check out the schedule beforehand to get tickets. Great intimate venue with plenty of well-known comedians doing shows.

Kolache Factory

7811 Main Street, Houston, TX 77030

Really good kolache's and you can get donuts too. This is a franchise as well and have many locations around the city.

La La Land Kind Cafe

888 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77006

Great little coffee shop! Do not go to Starbucks while you are here. There are a hundred different coffee shops to try in Houston. There are a few locations, including one on Shepherd.

Luce Coffee Roasters

3995 Richmond Avenue, Houston, TX 77027

This a great grab and go coffee shop. They have great pastries as well. A couple of locations around town, but there is one right by our house in Pearland. No fuss kind of place.

The Toasted Yolk Cafe

4601 Washington Avenue, Houston, TX 77007

Great for breakfast and lunch! The servings are massive so come with an appetite or someone to split a meal. Multiple locations around the city.

Common Bond Bistro & Bakery - Montrose

1706 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77006

We love this place! Best for breast fast or lunch. They make their own pastries (try the chocolate croissant or the pistachio croissant) and they never disappoint! Ashley's favorite sandwich is the tomato & Burrata.

Torchy's Tacos

5535 Weslayan Street, Houston, TX 77005

If you're looking for a more relaxed environment we recommend this Mexican restaurant. There are a lot of locations around the city if this one is not near where you are staying.

Los Tios

5192 Buffalo Speedway, West University Place, TX 77005

When Ashley's family is in town this is the place they have to go to on the first night. If it were up to Katie we would eat here everyday. Very good choice for casual dining. We always go to the location in Sugarland but there are multiple throughout Houston.

Dish Society

1050 Yale Street, Houston, TX 77008

This place is fantastic! Perfect for breakfast or lunch. The salmon poke bowl is a must. There are a lot of locations around Houston including West University (West U) and Bellaire Blvd.

Hearsay Levy Park

3728 Wakeforest Street, Houston, TX 77098

Great place tucked away in River Oaks. Highly recommend the deviled eggs! Casual dining for lunch or dinner. Sits in a community park where you can let the kids run and play and even bring your pets.

Goode Co. Kitchen & Cantina

2002 West Gray Street, Houston, TX 77019

One of our favorite casual lunch places!

Bosscat Kitchen & Libations

4310 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77027

You will pass this place up if you aren't paying attention! Great ambience and food.

Sixty Vines

2540 University Boulevard, Houston, TX 77005

Great place for lunch! The location is in Rice Village where there are lots of little restaurants and plenty of shopping opportunities.

Hugo's

1600 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77006

Sunday brunch buffet here is AMAZING! Highly recommend even if it's just for lunch or dinner. Let us know if you plan to go, we may come meet up :)

Flora

3422 Allen Parkway, Houston, TX 77019
, 713-360-6477

Beautiful setting and excellent drinks! We almost had our ceremony here.

a'Bouzy

2300 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77098

The name says it all! They even bring popcorn out instead of bread. So good and the drinks are stellar.

Kata Robata

3600 Kirby Drive, Houston, TX 77098

Excellent Sushi & Grill! Highly recommend this quiet little place, but get a reservation. Unlikely to get a table without one. Highly recommend the cold soba noodles and Texas Kobe beef skewers. Yumm.

Georgia James

3503 West Dallas Street, Houston, TX 77019

If you want to go all out and have a fancy date night, this is the place to do it. By far the best steakhouse around. Dig deep in those pockets for this, but it is well worth it, in our opinion.
