Things To Do

There are so many things to do in Western Massachusetts and Connecticut! If you have never been to the area, please know that Boston is about a 90 minute to 2 hour drive away. Boston is a wonderful place to visit but if you would like to stay local, here are some of our recommendations for a good time that are less than an hour drive from Southwick, MA!

Berkshire County

Berkshire County is the westernmost part of Massachusetts and is known for its quintessential “New Englandy” towns. There is SO much to see here from museums to historical gardens to adorable downtown areas. Some ideas to check out include the following: - Downtown Great Barrington & Sheffield (mom-and-pop shops, Bistro Box, Berkshire Mountain Distillers, Bakin Bakery) - Stockbridge (Norman Rockwell Museum) - Lenox (The Mount, Edith Wharton's Home) - North Adams (Mass MoCA) - Charlemont (Zip Lining at Berkshire East - 900’ zips across the Deerfield River Valley)

Skinner State Park

If you would like some outdoor time and the opportunity to see a 360 degree view of the beautiful Pioneer Valley, Skinner Mountain is a wonderful place to visit. If you want to just see the view, you can drive to the top to go inside the historic Skinner House and walk around the grounds. If you want a little bit of adventure or exercise, there are also hiking trails available.

The Mount, Edith Wharton's Home

The Mount is the former estate of American novelist Edith Wharton (The House of Mirth, The Age of Innocence). It is free to walk around the grounds and there is a fee to go inside of the mansion.
