All it took was two people to swipe right on a dating website they both pretended they’d never be on and a heated debate over the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle hierarchy. (Ashley digs Donny’s brains, Eric thinks Raph is cool but crude.) Over weeks of texting and late night phone calls, they decided to finally meet; bonding over a mutual love of pizza, sarcasm, and truly terrible horror movies. One year and many miles later, these two crazy kids are each other’s best friends, true loves, and epic dance partners for life. (*epic is in the eye of the beholder y’all.)
Things got serious and though they discussed getting married on the regular, Eric, bless him, worked really hard to make it a surprise. He devised a proposal plan. A fake e-mail address was involved. As was Ashley’s woodworking father. And maybe a lack of timely communication on the Fears side of things. So Eric made a backup plan. A few of them. And Ashley kept unknowingly ruining it. Nevertheless, he persisted. After a day of work, Eric dropped by Nathaniel Greene Park to pick Ashley up, and slipped her locket around her neck stating, “You forgot this in the car, babe.” Ashley was puzzled. She thought, “I’d never wear this necklace with this outfit…” They went on a walk through the trees, and pausing, Eric asked if Ashley might want to open the locket? She did. He asked. She said “duh.”
