First Date

June 28th, 2012

Elvin and I had been speaking with each other for about 2 weeks after meeting at a kickball fundraiser. You could say his "rico-suave" dance moves got my attention on wanting to further my time with this man so I told him I wanted to learn how to play golf (wink wink). It was a Thursday evening and he and I met at Rockwood Golf Course in Fort Worth, TX to learn and practice golf. We were there for about an hour and I invited him to dinner at Montgomery Plaza. Not too reluctantly he joined me at Gloria's followed by another invite to downtown to go dancing. Not thinking he would join me in this invitation, he caught me by surprise. We went to The Library Bar first then headed over the Barcelona to end the night there. My car was closer to where we had been so I drove him back to his car and said our goodbye's. That's where our relationship began to blossom.

The Proposal

December 11, 2016

Every year, Elvin and I get our pictures taken to commemorate our relationship together. At this time, I wanted to make sure that we got the fall foliage in our photos. That morning, was stressful in itself. My hair dryer blew out, it was raining, and we were running late. Fortunately enough, everything came together. We found a way to dry my hair and style it to look decent enough, the rain had stopped and clouds began to move out, and well, we still showed up late to church. After church, we ate a quick breakfast and Elvin chimed in telling me that he was needing a balloon. For what? He and God only knew. I was completely confused about why Elvin needed a balloon but I just figured it was for our photographer Abigail. Abigail met us at the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens to take our pictures and captured several great memories. As we were getting closer to the end of the photo shoot, Elvin began acting a little weird and told me to go on ahead with Abigail as a Dodge pickup truck, one that I did not recognize, met up with Elvin (turns out it was Ruben AKA Junior, Jorge's younger brother). Abigail had been taking photographs of just myself, when Elvin walked up with 1 red balloon and began telling a story that I had told him once. He asked me to hold onto my balloon for just a little bit longer and then got down on one knee and proposed. By the pictures that were taken, I was a mess but was able to get out the word YES! I was completely surprised by the proposal but wouldn't want it any other way.
