Pink (Ashley's Favorite Color) Orange (Dustin's Favorite Color)
While Ashley's attempt at conversation by teasing him about his birthday fell flat at a work meeting. Dustin made the call 2 years later to ask Ashley on their first date. *Random Fact: She ignored the call as she was busy helping out at faith formation and assumed the 701 area code meant it was NDSU's Alumni calling her for money. Luckily he sent a text as well. :)
Ashley had been trying to convince Dustin to get a Christmas tree for a while, so one freezing cold weekend he surprised her with one. He even decorated it with golf ball & pink ornaments. As they were waiting to go to dinner, he told her to press a button (claiming it would adjust the outdoor lights, she knew better and refused but eventually caved) which turned on a lighted sign he handmade under the Christmas tree that said, "Marry Me?" She obviously said "Yes!" before even seeing the ring and called him a dork for the fib he told about the button.
