Devon and I met while working together in 2014. I had heard people talking that he was interested; but frankly I wasn’t thinking about dating at the moment. After awhile we started talking. He had asked me to go to a cubs game with him, but I was too nervous to meet up with him and his friends. After that devon had stopped texting me, and I was starting to wonder “why wasn’t he texting me anymore?” I decided I’d text him first this time, so I reached out and before we knew it we had a movie date. It was to “As Above, So Below” to be exact :) he ended up being the sweetheart I never expected and the rest is history ;)
One of our favorite activities to do as a couple would be kayaking. During the summer we try to go as often as we can. Devon had suggested earlier in the week we go kayaking, he had invited two of our best friends, my mom, and his parents to go with. I never thought much other than it was a normal day of kayaking so I was excited. During our trip a little bit after the half way point, people started to leave Devon and I behind one by one. I was starting to think something was weird and wondered why no one would wait for us. As we came up closer to a turn I started to hear our song playing, and saw a go pro attached to a stick over looking this beach area Devon and I had come across a few years back. When we first found it, it was named “Clam Island” it was covered in clam shells people would leave behind and there was a wooden sign with the name painted on. It was such a cute little area, that became dirty over the years. Devon had completely decorated the area to bring it to life again, with new sand, signs, props that made it looks like a “treasure Island” it was gorgeous!! Our friends and family were waiting there for us, of course it brought me to tears! When we landed devon had gotten down on one knee to propose. It couldn’t have been more perfect for us. When we got back to our cars my dad was waiting there with my sister and Ryan who brought both of our dogs. It was the perfect day and Devon couldn’t have done a better job :)
