Yep.. December! Our original date was May 9, but due to the circumstances surrounding COVID-19, we felt it best to postpone until a time when all of our friends and family could feel safe coming to a big gathering. We hope you're able to join us on December 5!
If your response is staying the same, there's nothing you need to do! If you need to change your reply, you can email your reply to wallsodellwedding@gmail.com. If you haven't yet sent your RSVP, feel free to use the card knowing our new date.
Please RSVP by November 6.
We're getting married at The Retreat at Hiawassee River, right on the river.
Yes! The Holiday Inn is about a 5 minute drive from the venue and we have a block of rooms reserved there. Call (706) 896-8884 and reference the O'Dell-Walls Wedding to receive our reduced rate.
When you pull into The Retreat, turn left, and follow the road to an open field where there is plenty of parking. There's a path that will then take you down to our ceremony site. We kindly ask that you do not park at the cabins surrounding the ceremony site, as we want to keep the area clear for photos.
If you need wheelchair access, or if you have trouble walking on uneven ground, you may turn right as you go through the entrance and drop off passengers at the ceremony site. That road will loop back around to the field for parking.
Your Sunday Best or Cocktail Attire is fine by us! We just want you to join us and be comfortable in the process. Shoes too high? Tie too tight? Take it off!!
That's a great question! And well.. we just don't know the answer yet. If December 5 turns out to be unseasonably warm, our ceremony will still be outdoors, but if it would be too chilly, there is an indoor chapel on property where we will tie the knot. Our reception will be indoors, regardless!
We're no James Spann (shoutout to the Alabama relatives!), but historically, early December in Hiawassee ranges from a high of 55 degrees to a low of 35.
Following the I Dos, the wedding party and immediate family will be busy taking some photos. In the meantime, you're invited to enjoy a cocktail hour with drinks and light bites in the chapel barn.
After our photos are complete and you've had some snacks, everyone will gather in the Pavilion for dinner, drinks and dancing. We'll be serving a barbeque dinner complete with all the fixings.
Do you get to dance? Does a bear poop in the woods? Of course there will be dancing! And the worse your moves are, the better it is for all of the rest of us.
Truly, your presence is gift enough. But if you insist, we're registered at zola.com, Dillards, and Target.
