We met at the Cheesecake Factory and spent almost every day together that summer. Between work, late nights at CVP, and all events in between, we still hadn't had enough of each other. The rest is history!
I was slightly suspicious after Corey planned a vacation for us to Asheville and for Christmas gave me tickets for a trip to Chimney Rock State Park in Asheville. Corey and I hardly ever go hiking, not his thing. Let alone in the cold, not my thing. We had planned to stop at my doctor's appointment before heading to Asheville. Then go to Chimney Rock State Park before checking into our Airbnb and had dinner plans later on. While I was inside for my appointment, Corey text me and said his car battery had died. I thought he was joking, he wasn't. After a few hours we finally found a friend to come give us a jump and we were on our way. As we drove to the mountains, we knew they had been calling for a snow storm, but it's North Carolina and we had yet to see real snow. However, as we climbed the mountain nearing the park, we realized the snow storm was no joke. The park was closed when we arrived due to the weather. Corey who is always cool, calm, and collected was no longer that. I tried to remain as calm as possible considering I thought he had proposal plans. We get to our Airbnb and as soon as I set my bag down, my phone starts ringing. The dogs managed to lock our dog sitter out of the house and we are 4 hours away from home. What else can go wrong? We eventually get a locksmith to let her in and could finally relax for a second before getting ready for our dinner reservations. As I'm getting ready in the bathroom, I'm talking to Corey for a while before I realize he's not answering me. I go looking for him, knowing he's about to pop out and scare me. I opened the door to the patio, and there he is on one knee. The complete opposite of what I thought was about to happen. We spent the rest of the weekend off the grid exploring Asheville and eventually made it to Chimney Rock State Park on our way home. We got the most beautiful pictures and it was probably best it was closed on our way there. Corey is terrified of heights. He would have for sure dropped the ring.
