They met while Ashley was working at the Barnes and Noble Cafe in Silverdale, Corbit and his parents would come into the cafe to get coffee, Kathy also worked at Barnes and Noble on the bookstore side. Kathy invited Ashley and another coworker to see Corbit perform in "Legally Blonde" at the local theater. Ashley brought Corbit a card that he still has to this day!

Corbit and Ashley moved from their hometowns to Bellingham, WA while Corbit attended Western Washington University. They originally were going to be long distance and Ashley was going to stay in Port Orchard but both of their living situations fell through, the stars aligned with Ashley's job at Verizon, and they were able to move in together.

The day before their big move to Boulder, Corbit and Ashley were loading a moving truck with the help of each of their parents and Corbit's brother-in-law, Josh. Just as Corbit and Ashley were about to lock the doors and say goodbye to their empty apartment in Bellingham, Corbit proposed!
