We met at a Christmas game night with mutual friends in 2017. After that, we occasionally saw each other at future game nights, but it wasn’t until 2019 that we began to see each other with different eyes. In August of 2019, Christina texted Ashley offering support during a difficult time. Ashley invited Christina over to her and bridesmaid Jodi’s house for dinner (Jodi is the mutual friend who originally brought Christina to that Christmas game night!). We shared a meal, got to know each other more, and discovered our shared love of Reese’s cups. The flame was lit and we spent the next few weeks texting into the early morning hours, sharing music with each other, and falling in love. We pride ourselves on waiting 6 whole months before moving in together (that ol’ lesbians bringing a U-Haul on the second date thing is actually pretty legit). A couple weeks later, COVID hit and we, like everyone else, spent the majority of 2020 isolated with each other. We decided if we could make it through that and love each other even more, we might as well spend the rest of our lives together. Christina proposed on March 20th, 2021 (fast fact: it’s also MOH Megan’s birthday and the Spring solstice) under the gorgeous bending arc installation at Ashley’s favorite spot, The St. Pete Pier.
