Carson and I met the summer after Freshman year of college back in Bronson, MI. Who would've ever thought that Carson would meet a girl from a town he once grew up in? At first, we started off "just friends" as Carson was attending Xavier University in Cincinnati, OH and I was at Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, MI. Several months into texting and calling, we decided to give the whole dating thing a try. After three long years of late Sunday night drives away from each other, tearful and vulnerable calls, we were able to cut that 6 hour drive down to 2 hours as I had moved to Louisville, KY for PT school. While I was in Louisville, Carson had accepted his first position with Ernst & Young and was gradually establishing himself in Cincinnati. Four years later, I graduated PT school and Carson and I were FINALLY able to be in the same city like we'd always dreamt of! We ended up buying our first home in 2020, got our precious Gooldendoodle son (Gus), Carson became a certified public accountant, and I accepted my first job with Kettering Health Network. Carson and I are blessed on so many levels and are grateful for the experiences and moments we've had together thus far.
WHAT A DAY! So, the weekend of our engagement I had thought that my best friend from high school and her boyfriend were "just visiting" Cincinnati. The morning leading up to the proposal, Carson and I had showed them around Findlay Market as well as other spots that we love about the city. That night, I thought we were going out to dinner at one of our favorite restaurants- Agave and Rye; however, Carson had other plans! Cars knows that I like taking pictures, especially since my girlfriend was in town, so he decided to set our backyard up for a "photo op." He ended up calling me out to see if things looked okay, but then called Gus (our pup) out. I remember being so confused because Gus was wearing a white bandanna, which I didn't recall ever buying him. Carson had asked me to read the bandanna that Gus was wearing which read, "Will you marry Daddy?" Shocked and in tears, I turned around to see Carson down on one knee asking me to marry him. Obviously, I said yes, but my next question to him was, "Do my parents know?" To my surprise, we were not going to dinner at Agave and Rye rather having our parents and closest friends over to continue the celebration at our home!
