Sunset and Pipeline are legendary so they're worth a visit. Hukilau is the closest little beach right by the school. Waimea is awesome for big waves. Ehukai Beach Park is one of the places Blake surfs and it's got a lot of sand for kids. Keikis is another of our favorite beaches! Shark's Cove is a great place for snorkling... and there are NO SHARKS there.
The back side of Kawela Bay is a quiet beach in a pretty little spot, with not a lot of people. This was the place we got engaged! Also check out Sunset Beach for sunset! (might sound cliche but its pretty awesome!)
If you don't mind making a drive to the southeast side, Makapuu Lighthouse Trail is really awesome!! We love this one. It's mostly paved and the views are incredible! You might even be able to see some whales this time of year! Waimea Canyon State Park is a botanical garden. It's a paved walk with a pretty waterfall at the end. (That one has an entrance fee) If you go there on Thursday from 2-7pm, there's a great little farmer's market. Closer to home, there is Laie Falls, which is a nice, pretty little walk but be fooled by the name.. there is no longer a waterfall. We also like Sunset Pillbox , but that is more of an actual uphill hike. The "pillbox" is an old war bunker you can go in.
This is such a charming little local farm-to-table place to get super yummy home-grown food and the best smoothies & acai bowls! Make sure to try the grilled banana bread with ice cream! Also, their homemade body products are amazing!!!! Grab some of those and a bottle of their famous lilikoi salad dressing!!! It'll take you back to the islands even after you're home!
This is a great local burger place where Blake worked. We hung out here and had some really fun times at the open mic nights! The burgers are awesome! Don't skip the fries! If you have room for dessert, hit Angels Shave Ice next door! It's SO worth it!!!
