Matron of Honor
Amy and I met at Kent State during welcome weekend while riding downtown on Lolly the Trolley for a back-to-school event. We found out that we were neighbors, 3 doors down, in the honors dorms! We joined the same campus church organization later that semester where we formed our little crew that did everything together. We’d walk to dining halls, hang out in lounges, and keep each other company while knocking out homework assignments. Amy’s family took me in when I couldn’t make the 5 hour trip to Indy for holidays. I was also the Maid of Honor when Amy got married to her college sweetheart a few years ago. Now living far apart, and reuniting once a year (when we’re lucky) I miss having my best friend around. But, I couldn’t miss out on having her by my side for my big day!

Ashley is a family friend who might as well be part of the family. She's like the big sister I never had. Sharing a name got confusing, so we created nicknames that are still used to this day. She became "Biggie" and I became "Little." From family vacations, to Christmas, and Labor Day celebrations at our Aunt's house, Biggie was a huge part of my childhood. Without her around, I'd be "sittin' here wiff nuffing to do" (our infamous road-trip one liner.) I was always so excited when she got to whoever's house we were celebrating at, and still do! We've made so many awesome memories over the years, and I can't wait to share this special one together.

Emily is my little cousin. We did everything together at family functions. We'd play games, do each others hair and nails, make crafts, play school (I was ALWAYS the teacher), and whatever else we could come up with. We share a love of cats, dance, and being crafty. In fact, Emily and her mom spent most of our New Year's celebration this past year putting together the bouquets for my wedding. She has always been there for me, and I know she always will be. It is so special that she will be sharing this day with me, the same way our moms did many years ago. I even gave her a CUSTOM HANGER in her bridesmaid present - a gift worth getting! (family joke)

Laura and I go all the way back to middle school where we conveniently had last names close enough to be locker buddies. We navigated the difficult teenage years together as a team. With houses 5 minutes apart, we spent many nights in each other’s basements, playing guitar hero, burning cds, and taking weird mirror selfies. What else is there to do when you’re 13? We dressed up for Halloween, school dances, and football games. I look back on those years and smile, all thanks to my “biffle.” I couldn’t imagine getting ready for my wedding without having this make-up extraordinaire in the mirror next to me.

Alice is my future sister-in-law! I've only known Alice the past 6 years, but I am so excited to have her as part of my family for years to come. My favorite memories with Alice are from down in Texas at the annual Fourth of July family reunion. We sit by the pool all day, eat delicious food, walk to local stores, get our nails done, and enjoy being with family. Alice and her family have welcomed me with open arms and I feel 100% at home when I'm with them. I'm so excited for all the fun times to come and can't wait to be a Hottensmith!
