Astor went to dinner with a friend, and as they were leaving, they noticed that a cornhole tournament was about to begin. Having never played before, they decided to join. That same evening, Ashley attended the cornhole tournament with several coworkers. While waiting for her next match to start, she walked over to the bar to order a beer. At that moment, an earsplitting “AWOOO” rang out—Astor had howled as Ashley passed by. She glanced at him, laughed softly, and continued on her way. Later in the evening, Ashley and Astor were paired to compete against one another. Ashley was already standing near the cornhole boards, talking with Astor’s teammate, when Astor arrived carrying two beers—one for himself and one for his friend. He set the drinks on a nearby table and asked his teammate if she would mind switching sides so he could stand closer to the tables. She agreed and moved to the opposite side. Astor then struck up a conversation with Ashley. Remembering the earlier howl, Ashley smiled, picked up one of the beers Astor had placed on the table, said, “Thank you,” and took a drink. From that evening forward, they continued talking, began dating, and are now engaged to be married. p.s. Ashley won the cornhole match.
