Let’s go back to the end of December 2024... it’s the holiday season and both Ashley and Andy are searching for love in all the modern ways (cue swiping on the dating apps). Ashley and Andy match with each other – Ashley drawn in by Andy's love for animals, the outdoors, and his incredible hair – Andy for Ashley's salsa moves and her stunning bridesmaid photo from Lainey and Doug's Banff wedding. Ashley reaches out first, and the two discover that they had been just 100 feet from each other that evening in Fell's Point: Ashley at the swanky Pendry bar, and Andy at his favorite hole-in-the-wall dive bar Cat’s Eye. They were both coming home late to their cats, and continued to chat before scheduling their first date a few days later. On their first date, they learned they each shared a love for Afghan food and good brews. Andy was honest in his world views and super respectful throughout which made Ashley feel at ease. The night ended with hearts and bellies full. Andy planned the next date - a health nut’s dream: fresh juice from the organic grocery and hot yoga at his favorite local studio in Hampden. They were in the middle of a wintry snowstorm, but both decided to brave the cold and flurries to make it happen. A few days later, Ashley got the flu - the worst she had felt in a very long time. Andy, with his “food-is-love” signature style, swooped in to save the day with from-scratch chicken noodle soup as her symptoms worsened. Garden-harvested herbs, homemade bone broth, and chicken thighs pulled off the bone kind of love... Ashley felt like she was in a Hallmark drama – who was this man? Ashley stuck it out that evening, even with her symptoms so they could get to know each other better. By midnight, Andy was thinking, “why is this sick girl still out and about?”. He found out over the course of the evening, however, that there were a great many important things they had in common – similar beliefs, dreams, and life goals – and began to consider, even that early on, that she could be the one. Andy sent her home with the remaining soup and lots of zinc, vitamin C, and D, looking forward to dates to come. Around that time Ashley had committed to fostering a dog, Snoot. She loved the fact that Andy stepped in to assist with the pup; giving him lots of love, taking him for walks, and incorporating him into their schedules. He saw her incredible ability to bond with and care for animals that stirred his heart and set off more green flags. More dates ensued and the seeds of love were planted. The relationship progressed with such ease that it wasn’t long before talk of marriage and family naturally arose. The rest is, as they say, history. On our wedding day, we want to recognize our love for each other before God, our family, and friends. We are truly excited to have each and every one of you there to commemorate and celebrate with us. We know we would not be here without the love and support of friends and family, and we are so grateful that you will be joining us for this special day. Cheers! Andy and Ashley
