Ashley and Gus met how all successful 21st century couples meet - an app. Ashley's profile pics prominently featured her red hair, and Gus's bio specifically stated his love of both cats and dogs. They were checking each others most important boxes from the get-go. Their first date began at The Robin Room on Madison's east side, where they enjoyed a number of expertly crafted (expensive) cocktails. It ended a block away at The Caribou, where Ashley and Gus switched to PBRs, mini corn dogs and conversation about a gravy fountain at their future wedding. Straddling the line between fine dining and dives would soon develop into a passion.

Throughout their relationship, Gus and Ashley have introduced their passions to one another and many have become shared joys. Ashley now shares Gus's love for keeping an abundance of different sauces in the house. And Gus has become an ardent admirer of Ashley's "sauce of life" - drag. That's why a night out seeing one of their favorite drag queens, Denali, went from a meet and greet to a surprise proposal.
