Dedicated, kind, and selfless; three simple words that describe Ashley as the woman I have come to know over the last almost five years. I was immediately attracted to her smile, beauty, and laughter when I met her at my best friend Brandon’s house for a New Year’s Eve party. She came along with her best friend, and I took kind to getting to know her. A couple weeks later we went out to dinner (I spent hours researching all the restaurants Birmingham had to offer morning of our first date). On the first date, we spent hours just talking and sharing past stories about how we had gotten to the place we were – I knew I wanted to get to know her better (even though I wasn’t sure I was the caliber she deserved).A few months later, after hanging out on weekends when I was home from Auburn, I finally worked up the nerve to ask Ashley to be my girlfriend. Luckily, she said yes. That first summer of jeep rides, simple dates, and late nights standing on her driveway under the stars was truly special, and I rapidly fell for the woman behind beautiful brown eyes and sparkling smile. We were fortunate that we both got to spend three years in Auburn together going to Auburn football games (War Eagle!), formals, and everything in between. Through all the ups and downs and challenges life can throw at someone in college, Ashley by my side made them worthwhile. After I graduated from Auburn, I began law school and she began her senior year. A couple hours apart were challenging but we continued our journey together – spending most weekends together. In December of 2018, I spent several days in Huntsville with her extended family for Christmas celebrations. That time was so special watching Ashley truly care for those around her and her family welcoming me so kindly. I knew I had to spend forever with her.
On January 5, 2019, Ashley and I planned to go to lunch at Pursell Farms (or well at least she thought it was lunch ). I picked her up and we made the 45 minute or so journey down there. When we arrived, I stopped as we were walking in and said we are going to take these off-road vehicles on a trail ride. Unbeknownst to Ashley, it was our journey to forever together. Having planned the times meticulously, I knew the exact times everything would be in place. We headed up the mountain to an overlook with sun swept views of the surrounding land and Lay Lake. I walked her over to an area where a large wooden cross was. Then, I was lucky enough to ask Ashley to be my wife – her saying yes!! That day was so meaningful spent with friends and family celebrating our lives together. I can’t wait for the journey that God is going to lead us on. I am so blessed that Ashley will be my wife. She is dedicated to all that she does – always striving to be the best she can be. She is selfless and has long-served diligently in positions of service to others. Finally, she is kind hearted and loves me despite all of my weaknesses. We are so excited to begin our journey to forever, and we are so excited to share these moments with all of you.
