How did you meet?

Answer

We met at a high school football playoff game in San Antonio, Texas. Despite having approached AJ, Ashley does not remember this encounter from the fall of 2005.

When was your first date?

Answer

AJ drove Ashley to a Whataburger for lunch during both of their high school athletic offseasons.  However, AJ never skipped class so he cannot recall this particular event.

Wait! Have you been dating since you were in high school?

Answer

No. We remained friends until reconnecting in Corpus Christi on a random weekend in August of 2013. We started dating in April of 2014, and after two years of traveling between Austin and New York City, Ashley made the move to The Big Apple in May of 2016.

What's your favorite thing to do together?

Answer

Eat, drink wine and watch the newest TV series. Good thing we already enjoyed it pre-COVID. But after this past year, we're looking for our new favorite thing - Tennis? Megan Roup workout classes?

What is your favorite restaurant in NYC?

Answer

Lil' Frankies. In addition to the reliable, Italian comfort food and low-key vibe, it's home to many years of celebrations and memories we've both created with family and friends. That said, we have ordered take-out from Thai Villa at least once a week over the last 3 years.

What are you most excited to do after marriage?

Answer

Travel Update: That was clearly a pre-COVID answer. We still hope to do more of that but right now we're focused on figuring out what's next for us.

We know that you are both athletic and competitive. In which sport will your first child earn global recognition?

Answer

Table Tennis.

When are you moving back to Texas?

Answer

After much discussion, we have decided to take our talents to Texas after the wedding. Month, year, city are still to be determined.

Question

What will you miss most after you leave NYC?

Answer

Bagels, Metrocards, subway creatures, rooftop views, morning coffees in the park, fall foliage, frigid city strolls, but mostly time spent with people that have become our NY family.
