I had been working with our talented friend Ashley (Ashley Kemmer Photography) to schedule a fall couple's photoshoot for Sean and I. Each time the scheduled date rolled around, the weather never seemed to cooperate. After 3 different date changes we finally landed on December 6th 2020, also the day of my mom's birthday. Behind the scenes, Sean had been working on designing the ring and the rescheduled shoots were actually working in his favor. By December 6th the ring was finished and in his pocket. We planned to met at Elizabeth Farms in Litiz for the photoshoot, and afterwards we would meet my Mom for her birthday dinner at the Hotel Hershey. Because we had other plans for the evening, and had rescheduled 3 different times, I had no idea Sean was planning to propose. 5 minutes into the shoot, Sean popped the question which totally caught me by surprise! The rest of the shoot turned into an engagement shoot and it couldn't have turned out any better.
To start off the story, our moms have been playing volleyball together for 15 years. Since I was often brought along to practices and eventually played with the team, I heard a lot about Sean through his mom, Cheryl, but it took a few more years before we actually met. In 2013 when I was in my junior year of high school and starting to look for colleges, Cheryl mentioned that Sean was swimming at Penn State and if I had any questions at all about the college process, he would be happy to answer them. Sean and I ended up chatting briefly over Facebook Messenger about college life and about Penn State but we didn't connect any further than that. In 2016, Sean and I bumped into each other at a Thon event while he was visiting his friends at Penn State. The run in sparked a few months of sporadic texting and once I was done with school that semester we planned to meet each other for coffee at the Cocoa Beanery in Hershey. The day we met for coffee we spent 5 hours in the Beanery talking. The employees actually turned the music off and the lights out to let us know to hurry it up and give them their Sunday afternoon back. After that coffee date, we were pretty much inseparable. A month later, on July 4th 2016, after a day of grilling out and Independence Day festivities, Sean made it official by asking me to be his girlfriend. It’s a well-timed anniversary date to make sure that we always get fireworks! _________________________________________________________________________ After a crazy 2020 & 2021 we cannot wait to have our closest friends and family in Hershey to celebrate the next part of our journey! See you in the Sweetest Place on Earth!
